Katherine de Boda

Katherine de Boda has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 11 years. She is the founder and owner of the Svaha Yoga Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Katherine began practicing yoga as a small child, teaching herself yoga from books, as well as being inspired by her Grandmother’s practice and spiritual way of life.

In 1997 she began studying Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga consistently at the Downward Dog Yoga Centre in Toronto, Canada.  She is grateful to all of the many exceptional teachers there with whom she had the opportunity to study: Ron Reid, Diane Bruni, Marla Meenakshi Joy, and Xenia Ananda Shakti Saraswati.

Over the years she has woven many different styles and ways of practice together including Yoga Nidra, Iyengar, Vinyasa and Vijnana Yoga.

Katherine has travelled around the globe  to destinations in Asia, Europe, the Americas and beyond studying  with Nancy Gilgoff, Andrew Eppler, Richard Freeman, Chuck Miller, Maty Ezraty and Erich Schiffman and many, many more.

She leads her classes with a calm strength focusing on alignment and entering the poses from the inside out, connecting with the breath as a tool for transformation.

Katherine has also studied shamanism for over 10 years and is an apprentice and Sundancer on the Sweet Medicine Sundance Path of the Twisted Hairs based in Phoenix, Arizona. She also practices various forms of  Spiral Energetics/Lo Ban Pai  a movement series from Nagual Lujan Matus and is currently inspired by the movement ideas and  practices of Ido Portal. She has  studied various forms of martial arts and currently trains in Kenjutsu (Japanese sword).
